Nutty as a squirrel’s breakfast: Homemade granola

I can look forward to breakfast the moment I go to bed. If I know that a delicious stack of pancakes, full irish breakfast or a simple yoghurt with a fresh fruit salad is waiting for me the moment I wake up of course. Unfortunately, my breakfast usually contains out of simple slices of bread with cheese. I fully blame my laziness for this, which causes me to cherish these extra minutes of sleep instead of extra minutes in the kitchen.

Tastes better from scratch

What happens if the internet decides to stop working on Monday night? Taking Netflix down with it and the television decides to join? Yes! It means that it is time to finally try-out my pasta machine. Well I thought it was. I first had to make an attempt to read an Italian instruction manual on how to put the individual pieces together. After 15 minutes I figured it out and all that stood between me and my plate of home-made pasta was the creation of the dough.

Stepping into the comfort zone

Tired, hungry and cold. Those three things that went through my head  I was cycling home from work on Thursday fantasising about that greasy portion of chips I was going to order as soon as I was home. When I finally came home I realised I would rather have a big plate of steaming comfort food. Semi-healthy comfort food. Anyway it would be better than greasy chips and without a doubt much tastier too

Bake it till you make it: Apple-cinnamon cookies

I’m deeply sorry for the cheesy title, but I realised it kinda suits my baking style. I never bake and when I do I mess something up. (Meaning that it does not go the way I planned it would go, it is usually edible) But despite the many failures me and my oven had together I decided to spent the first day of my three week holiday baking cookies. They might not be the prettiest, but they are tasty and my house will smell like cinnamon and apples for a few hours.
